Wayne Law Diversity Coalition (WLDC)
The Wayne Law Diversity Coalition (WLDC) is a student-driven umbrella organization that connects Wayne Law's several multicultural and ally organizations in their unified mission to support law students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
The WLDC serves to streamline each organization's efforts to provide students with academic and career development resources, create networking opportunities, engage in community outreach, and ultimately promote diversity in both the law school and the legal field.
The WLDC spearheads panels and networking discussions aimed at connecting law students to potential employers, and supports participating organizations in their existing annual events, such as BLSA's pivotal Be the Change pipeline program.
Participating organizations
- The Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA)
- The Black Law Students Association (BLSA)
- Latin American Law Students Association (LaLSA)
- The Middle Eastern Law Students Association (MELSA)
- Muslim Law Students Association (MLSA)
- Wayne Law OutLaws
- Women's Law Caucus (WLC)
Lawyers Look Like Me
The Lawyers Look Like Me campaign aims to highlight the importance of diversifying the legal profession by sharing the message that lawyers can come from a wide variety of backgrounds and identities. In March 2022, the student-driven campaign ran a successful t-shirt sale with proceeds benefitting the WLDC.
