V. Legal writing and other language assistance

  1. Summer Legal English Program. Applicants who are not native speakers of English must participate in the Summer Legal English Program offered online and announced directly to applicants by the Director. Other applicants may participate in this program if they choose. The program does not provide credits towards the LL.M. degree.
  2. U.S. Legal Practice Skills for Foreign Law Students. Applicants who are not native speakers of English and are not majoring in U.S. Law may, with the approval of the Director, enroll in (and pay tuition for) the fall semester course "U.S. Legal Practice Skills for Foreign Law Students" (LEX 8890, 2 credits).
  3. Legal English Assistance.
    1. Prior to Enrollment in the LL.M. Program. The University has an English Language Institute that may be available to a qualified applicant prior to enrolling in the LL.M. program.
    2. After Enrollment in the LL.M. Program.  The Wayne Law Legal English Instructor is available throughout the academic year to all LL.M. students to help with case analysis, note-taking, paper writing, exam preparation and exam taking, and thesis development.
