Matthew Monahan

Biography
Matt Monahan has been a public defender with Michigan's State Appellate Defender Office since 2019. Prior to that, he clerked for Judge Laurie J. Michelson on the Eastern District of Michigan.
Matt has briefed and argued cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Eastern District of Michigan, the Michigan Supreme Court, and the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Matt has served as the president of the American Constitution Society-Michigan Chapter and was recently awarded the Community Impact Award from the Detroit Bar Association in recognition of his positive impact on the local and legal community.
