  • Biography

     Jacqueline C. Ouvry, is an Assistant Defender at SADO. She defends individuals sentenced to serve life without the possibility of parole as juveniles and defends prosecutor parole appeals. Previously, Jackie worked in SADO’s plea unit for seven years. She served as staff attorney on several federally funded grant projects involving social workers at sentencing, mitigation, and reentry work. She taught the Plea Clinic at Detroit Mercy Law School in 2016 prior to teaching at Wayne Law. Jackie regularly teaches the Sentencing Advocacy Workshop through Michigan Indigent Defense Commission and trains defense attorneys through CDAM, CAP, NDS and MAACS. Jackie served as Chair of the Prisons and Corrections Section of the State Bar from 2015 through 2017, and served on that Section’s Council from 2012 through 2018. In 2021, she was appointed by Governor Whitmer to the Protect Michigan Commission to maximize COVID-19 vaccine access, especially for Michigan’s prisoners.
