Find employment

As a Wayne Law student, you have exciting employment options: law firms, corporations, public interest organizations, government offices, accounting firms and courts. You may also gain experience at a Wayne Law clinic, as a research assistant for law faculty and as a volunteer through the law school's pro bono program.

As you apply for positions, we urge you to cast a wide net. If your employment focus is too narrow, you may miss out on great opportunities.

Reciprocity

Current students

If you plan to conduct a job search in a state other than Michigan, the Office of Career and Professional Development suggests that you consider requesting permission to use the career services office at a university in that state. Many law schools provide reasonable access to their career resources for students and graduates from other law schools that agree to provide similar services.

To review specific policies, go to the NALP Directory of Reciprocity Policies. If Reciprocity access is granted, students/graduates should be sure to read and honor the Reciprocity policy of the host school. Many law schools have black-out dates (usually in the fall) during which time Reciprocity requests won't be granted.

Contact lawcareers@wayne.edu to request access.

Students of other law schools

Requests for services can be made in writing or via email by the Office of Career and Professional Development of the student's law school. No walk-in requests will be honored. Requests for reciprocal access can be emailed to lawcareers@wayne.edu and must include the following information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Law school
  • Date you would like reciprocity to begin
