Donovan Cheff McCarty

Biography
Donovan McCarty is a staff attorney with Detroit Justice Center. He graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 2015, where he served as Executive Editor of Michigan Law Review Online. Prior to joining DJC, Donovan clerked for George Caram Steeh in the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He then worked as an Associate at Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone in their Public Finance Group. Most recently he was a Supervising Attorney with Michigan Legal Services, counseling clients facing eviction.
Donovan is also a videographer and filmmaker. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television. He collaborates with nonprofits and legal service providers to create content that makes the law more accessible to people. He is currently finishing his second feature-length documentary, Unknown and Perhaps Unknowable, about the 1974 United States Supreme Court case Milliken v. Bradley. -
