Thomas Boyd (1990),
along with James Fisher (1976), was awarded the
2020-21 Champion of Justice Award by the State Bar of Michigan. The pair were honored for their leadership in the creation of the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission (MIDC). The MIDC has developed minimum standards for indigent criminal defense, recommended best practices to local communities, and laid the groundwork for state funding to improve these services throughout the state.
