DETROIT "" Two student organizations at Wayne State University Law School collected items and put together 150 care packages for people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness.

Members of Wayne Law's Medical and Health Law Society and Homeless Not Helpless organization spent Thursday night, Nov. 17, putting together care packages at Tony V's Tavern in Detroit.

The Blessing Bag Service Project raised money and product donations from individuals and companies. The groups set a goal of 100 bags, but surpassed that, collecting enough items for 150 bags. Each bag includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, a bottle of water, a granola bar, fruit snacks, disposable wipes, hand warmers, a blanket and socks.

The student groups will be delivering the bags to the Greater Detroit Coalition's Homeless Not Helpless project for distribution across Detroit, with an emphasis on Midtown.
