DETROIT – Wayne Law student Fatima Dakroub recently received the Dickinson Wright Scholarship from the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) Foundation and the Kaminski Law Scholarship from WLAM - Wayne Region.

The scholarships are awarded to law students who demonstrate leadership capabilities in advancing the position of women in society, in business, and in the community.

“I am honored to be selected as a recipient of these scholarships,” Dakroub, a rising 3L, said. “I never thought I would enjoy transactional work, but I am grateful that I came to Wayne Law with an open mind and ready to explore every facet of the law in an environment that fosters my personal and professional growth.”

Dakroub, who serves as Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, won the Wayne Law NFL Contract Negotiation Competition two years in a row. She also serves as a Co-Director of In-House Competitions for the Wayne Law Moot Court program.

“I hope to mentor and encourage Arab and Muslim women from my community to pursue a law degree, and gain exposure to the transactional legal field so we may build a strong economic foundation for our immigrant communities for generations to come,” Dakroub added.

Following her first year of law school, Dakroub was a Levin Center intern for Chairman James Clyburn on the United States House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crises. She has also clerked for Chief Judge Elizabeth L. Gleicher of the Michigan Court of Appeals and worked as a student attorney in Wayne Law’s Business and Community Law Clinic.

Prior to law school, she was a legislative aide to former State Representative Abdullah Hammoud. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Wayne State University.
