Dear Members of the Law School Community,

Today we are mourning the loss of Dr. Delores Mayer who passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. She was a dedicated educator and a true inspiration to students.

Professor Mayer joined the law school in 2015, working as a legal writing specialist with the LL.M. program. As a part-time faculty member from 2018 through this summer, she taught a wide range of classes in the J.D., LL.M. and M.S.L. programs. She had just moved to San Antonio to join the full-time faculty at St. Mary’s School of Law.

Professor Mayer consistently demonstrated her commitment to fostering an environment of learning, growth, and intellectual curiosity. She enjoyed working with international students to improve their communication skills and sharing her passion for employment law with our J.D., LL.M. and M.S.L. students.

Professor Mayer was known not only for her expertise in writing and employment law but also for her dedication to teaching and mentorship. She inspired students through her passion for law and left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of learning from her.

A memorial service to honor Delores’ life and achievements has yet to be confirmed. When details become available, I will share them with you.
