Fast track to bachelor’s plus law degree
LawStart allows highly motivated students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to earn both a bachelor's and a law degree from Wayne State in just six years of study.
How it works
- LawStart applicants may major in any subject in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- Applicants will be eligible to apply for LawStart during their sophomore year, or upon the completion of at least two full-time semesters and at least 24 credits.
- Those selected for the LawStart program will take part in pre-law enrichment activities during their undergraduate education to ensure their preparedness for law school. LawStart students will also receive specialized advising to ensure that they can finish their undergraduate requirements within three years.
- Students will be officially admitted to Wayne Law after they apply and meet all law school admission criteria by the end of their junior year.
Eligibility
LawStart is a competitive program. To apply for LawStart, students must:
- Have completed between 24 and 64 credits (and at least 24 credits at Wayne State)
- Have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA in college coursework so far
- Have declared a major within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Be on pace to finish their major, college, and general education requirements by approximately 90 to 100 credits
