Fast track to bachelor’s plus law degree

LawStart allows highly motivated students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to earn both a bachelor's and a law degree from Wayne State in just six years of study.

How it works

  • LawStart applicants may major in any subject in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Students are eligible to apply to LawStart if they have completed between 24 and 64 credit hours, with a minimum of 24 credit hours being completed at Wayne State University.
  • Those selected for the LawStart program will take part in pre-law enrichment activities during their undergraduate education to ensure their preparedness for law school. LawStart students will also receive specialized advising to ensure that they can finish their undergraduate requirements within three years.
  • Students may be officially admitted to Wayne Law's J.D. program after they apply and meet all J.D. program admission criteria by the end of their junior year.
