Jaffe Transactional Law Competition
Who we are
What we do
The Jaffe Transactional Law Competition course is set up following the same model as the LawMeets regional transactional competitions. Two-member teams represent a buyer and a seller involved in a complex acquisition. The teams have to draft an agreement, then negotiate and revise the document when issues arise. After weeks of drafting and revising, the teams come together for two rounds of live negotiations during fall semester. They are judged by practicing transactional attorneys, who offer feedback to the students after each round. The top two teams go on to represent Wayne Law at two different regional competitions during winter semester.
For three years in a row (2013, 2014 and 2015), a Wayne Law team won first place in drafting at one of the regional competitions. And in 2014, Wayne Law brought home first place in both drafting and negotiating at one of the regionals, which qualified one of the teams for the national finals in New York City, and second place in both categories at the other regional.
