Biography

Boyd E. Chapin Jr. is senior counsel to Garan Lucow Miller PC in the Detroit office. He focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense, veterinarian malpractice defense, funeral home liability, nursing home liability defense, professional liability defense and general liability litigation.

Chapin is vice chair of the Character and Fitness Committee for the State Bar of Michigan, special counsel for the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission and a hearing officer for the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, The Florida Bar, American Bar Association, Metropolitan Detroit Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and Association of Defense Trial Counsel.

He has published numerous articles and lectured in several states on various medical issues and topics.

He earned a bachelor of philosophy degree in political science from Wayne State University in 1966 and his law degree from Wayne Law in 1969.
