Wayne Law team honored for 2nd-place brief at national competition

Wayne State University Law School's team took home the second-place award for brief at the 31st annual Cardozo/BMI Entertainment & Communications Law Moot Court Competition.

Team members are second-year students Jenna Hunt of Detroit and Ameena Sheikh-Walczak of Birmingham. Coaches are third-year students Danielle DePriest of Birmingham and Fatima Mansour of Harrison Township.

The competition was Thursday, March 5, through Sunday, March 8, at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.

This year's issue included the interpretation of comic book publishing, employment contracts and independently copyrightable contributions. Teams were required to research and write an appellate brief and prepare oral arguments on the issues presented.
