Wayne Law students win Wolverine Bar Foundation scholarships

Four Wayne Law students were awarded scholarships in April from the Wolverine Bar Foundation.

Recipients of the Damon J. Keith Scholarship were Emphani Aldridge, Sharae' Smiley and Phaedra Wainaina. Nicole Lockhart was awarded the 2017 Wolverine Bar Foundation Scholarship.

Aldridge and Wainaina both earned their bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan, Smiley earned her bachelor's degree at Michigan State University, and Lockhart earned her bachelor's degree at Oakland University.

According to their website, the Wolverine Bar Foundation established the Damon J. Keith Scholarship in 1995 to honor Judge Keith. It is based on merit and awarded to law students that emulate Keith's commitment to social equality and combating racism.

The Wolverine Bar Foundation Scholarship is awarded to law students that have exhibited leadership and dedication to the community.
