Wayne State University Law School first-year students Fatima Dakroub and Andrew Vailliencourt won the Law School’s virtual In-House NFL Contract Negotiation Competition on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Dakroub and Vailliencourt will advance to Tulane Law School’s virtual Professional Football Negotiation Competition in January and compete against students from across the country.

Now in its third year, the NFL Contract Negotiation Competition at Wayne Law is an opportunity for students to practice negotiation skills in front of practicing attorneys. Students represent either an NFL player or an NFL team and work to come to an agreement on a contract for their client.

The annual competition is supervised by Assistant Professor (Clinical) Rebecca Robichaud. Student organizers were Edwin Piner and James Claborn. Event judges were Samer Hamade ’19, Jaime Miettinen, and Deborah Schneider ’85.

The event was sponsored by Sports Slaw, a podcast about the business of sports with perspectives from sports lawyer Deborah Schneider, and former NFL player Lomas Brown.
