Paul Rosen's passion for law inspires friends to form speaker series at Wayne Law

DETROIT - Two Wayne State University Law School alumni and another Detroit-area lawyer have created an endowment to honor the memory of Paul A. Rosen, Wayne Law class of 1964.

Bernard Mindell, Wayne Law class of 1964; Barry Waldman, Wayne Law class of 1969; and Bob Garvey, a trial attorney in St. Clair Shores, established the Paul A. Rosen Constitutional Speaker Series Endowment to commemorate Rosen's passion for constitutional law.

"We are thrilled to announce that we are memorializing Paul Rosen's love of education and constitutional law by the formation of this endowment," said Waldman. "I think it's important to recognize Paul because of all the important work he accomplished in his lifetime. He loved the law and loved to share it with others."

Each year, Garvey, Mindell and Waldman will select a significant public figure to speak at Wayne Law on topics of importance in the area of constitutional law.

Rosen, who died in February 2017, served for many years as a plaintiff's personal injury attorney and civil rights attorney. Throughout his career, he earned numerous accolades including the Respected Advocate Award, which was presented to him by the Michigan Association for Justice in 1998.

He has been recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer and one of the Best Lawyers in America.

Rosen also was a well-respected teacher and lecturer, presenting throughout the United States. He served on the Wayne Law Board of Visitors.

The Paul A. Rosen Constitutional Speaker Series Endowment is funded entirely through private funds. For more information on the endowment, contact Carolyn Noble, 313-577-9238, or carolyn.noble@wayne.edu.
