Wayne State University is located in the heart of Midtown Detroit within minutes from the international border with Canada. Wayne State, Michigan's only urban research university, is among the 20 largest in the nation. The university responds to the needs of the city and state for professionals with graduate programs in such fields as business, engineering, law, medicine and nursing.

With many organizations working hard to provide clean air, water and soil, sustainable and environmentally friendly businesses are growing throughout the city and state.

A sunny place to enjoy lunch in the summer and an ice-skating rink in the winter, Campus Martius Park is in the center of downtown. Detroit's River Walk is a popular place to for biking, fishing and jogging. Nearby Belle Isle is home to walking trails, boating and a great view of Canada and the Detroit River.

Safe community

A wide range of activities, resources, safety measures, technology and training combine to ensure Wayne State remains one of Michigan's safest college campuses – a place where students, faculty, staff and guests can live, learn, work and play worry-free.

At the center of campus safety is a 60-member campus police force that patrols the area and responds to the needs of students and residents 24 hours per day. All campus officers are fully commissioned police officers.

An award-winning system of cell phone text, e-mail and instant message emergency alerts provide students with prompt safety information.
