The partnership

The Wayne State Taft Transactional Law Competition (formerly the Wayne State Jaffe Transactional Law Competition) was founded in 2014 by former Wayne law students and current Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP attorneys.

The competition was founded to provide law students with practical exposure to the practice of transactional law. Since its inception in 2014, the competition has helped students develop the drafting, negotiating, and counseling skills necessary in the transactional context, setting participants apart from their peers once in practice. The program is supported by the Jaffe Transactional Law Competition Fund, established in 2018 by Michigan-based law firm Jaffe Raitt Heuer and Weiss, which in 2023 merged with Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP is excited to continue with this exciting transactional skill-building competition.
