Domestic Violence and the law
Elected to the Order of the Coif following her graduation from law school, Professor Findlater clerked for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Charles Levin. She joined the Wayne State faculty in 1976, and teaches Contracts, Criminal Law and Family Violence. She was a member of the Michigan Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board from 1988-1998. She has been voted by the student body as Outstanding Professor of the Year 18 times, including most recently in 2013.

Janet Findlater was invited to participate in a meeting at the Rockefeller Foundation in New York City for The Ending Homelessness After Foster Care gathering on April 1, 2009, to discuss DREAM Academy, a program for juniors & seniors in high school who are transitioning out of foster care.
