H. Savala Nolan earned her law degree from Berkeley Law, where she was an editor-in-chief of the Berkeley Journal of African-American Law and Policy and a member of the Board of Advocates.

She clerked for the Honorable Damon J. Keith on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and completed clerkships with the Department of Justice and the Office of White House Counsel.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Nolan worked in public relations for the Studio Museum of Harlem and was a fellow at the Collezione Peggy Guggenheim in Venice, Italy.

She also has experience in complex civil litigation and negotiation and practiced law at Keker & Van Nest in San Francisco.
