Fall internships with Justice Kelly now available

July 13, 2012

Fall openings for judicial interns are available in Michigan Supreme Court Justice Marilyn Kelly’s Detroit chambers.

Interns should be capable of researching and writing on legal issues, and should have completed at least one year of law school (two years preferred), be conscientious, trustworthy and mature. They should be available to work two full days each week.
Interns will be offered the chance to learn the process by which cases are selected for oral argument and how opinions are prepared. They often will travel with Kelly to hear oral arguments in Lansing and to attend bar association and other legal functions with her. Interns also will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of a law clerk-attorney and to learn of future job possibilities in the Michigan Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.
Interested students can apply by contacting Kelly’s office, 3034 W. Grand Blvd., Suite 8-500, Detroit, MI 48202, by mail, fax (313-875-9304) or email (harwoods@courts.mi.gov) by July 20. Applications should include a cover letter, resume and transcript.
