Annual Labor Law Symposium October 12
Wayne State University Law School is pleased to announce that the 14th Annual Bernard Gottfried Memorial Labor Law Symposium will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Law School, 471 W. Palmer St., Detroit, from 8:15 am to 4 pm.
The symposium includes sessions on the National Labor Relations Board’s Deferral Policy; Salting: Union Strategies v. Employee Hiring Policies; and an address by Ronald Meisberg, general counsel of the NLRB.
New this year will be two breakout sessions: the first on Representation Case Overview and the second on Unfair Labor Practice Charge Overviews.
The registration fee is $100 and includes all sessions, a continental breakfast, and lunch. The RSVP deadline is October 2, 2006. Students, NLRB staff, and government employees may register for a reduced cost of $25.
Proceeds from the symposium will be used to fund future educational programs and labor-related studies at the Law School.
The symposium is sponsored by the WSU Law School; the National Labor Relations Board, Region Seven; and the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Section.
Bernard Gottfried (1925-1992) was director of the National Labor Relations Board, Region Seven from 1973 until his death. He taught at Wayne State University Law School for many years and this symposium honors his vision for labor.
