Alumnus Named Managing Director and General Counsel at OneChicago

DETROIT (August 27, 2007) – Donald L. Horwitz, an alumnus of Wayne State University Law School and an attorney with 30 years of experience, has been named Managing Director and General Counsel of OneChicago, an electronic exchange committed to becoming the global leader in futures on individual stocks, narrow-based indexes and ETFs.

According to a OneChicago release, Horwitz began his career in the financial services industry in 1974 with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in the New York Regional office later joining the legal department of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc.
Since then he has held the following positions: General Counsel of Merrill Lynch Futures, Inc.; Senior Counsel with Kay Scholer; General Counsel at The Options Clearing Corporation; General Counsel at Sakura Dellsher, Inc.; Head of Compliance for BrokerTec Futures Exchange (Eurex US as a result of the merger of BrokerTec into Eurex US); Director/General Counsel for Global Futures at ABN AMRO Incorporated; and as Executive Director and Senior Counsel for Exchange Traded Derivatives.
Horwitz has served as President of the FIA Law and Compliance Division, Chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Derivatives Regulation Committee, Editor of the Futures and Derivatives Law Reporter, Chairman of the NFA FCM Advisory Committee, a member of the Derivatives Regulation Committee of the Association of Bar of the City of New York, and on other industry and professional organizations.
Horwitz, a 1969 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 1972 graduate of Wayne State University Law School, is a member of the Illinois, Michigan and New York state bars. He and his wife Suzanne live in the Chicago area and have two grown daughters.
Founded in 1927 as Detroit City Law School, Wayne State University Law School is the only public law school in the Detroit metropolitan area. The Law School is accredited by the ABA and is a member of AALS; has five live-client clinics; the Arthur Neef Law Library with a collection of over 620,000 volumes in a variety of formats; and a state-of-the-art building with lecture and court facilities, multi-media and distance learning classrooms, and offices for student groups.
