Four Wayne Law alumnae honored as 2010 Women in the Law

September 27, 2010

DETROIT (Sept. 27, 2010) — Four Wayne State University Law School alumnae were recently honored by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as 2010 Women in the Law. Julia Donovan Darlow, ’71, University of Michigan; Elizabeth P. Hardy, ’84, Kienbaum Opperwall Hardy and Pelton PLC; Shirley Kaigler, LL.M. ’93, Jaffe Raitt Heuer and Weiss PC; and Noreen L. Slank, ’80, Collins Einhorn Farrell and Ulanoff PC, were honored at the inaugural Women in the Law luncheon on Sept. 16 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy, Mich.

According to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly blog, an editorial panel selected the honorees based on their commitment to excellence in the practice of law, as well as their roles as mentors and volunteers in their communities.

“I attended the Sept. 16 luncheon and felt great pride, as I often do, in the quality of our Wayne Law graduates,” said Wayne Law Dean Robert M. Ackerman. “They have used their legal careers in the most admirable ways possible, helping their communities and serving as mentors to the next generation of attorneys. On behalf of Wayne Law, I congratulate our alumnae on this remarkable accomplishment.”

A total of 20 women were honored as 2010 Women in the Law at the luncheon. They also were recognized in a special August section of Michigan Lawyers Weekly.
