Wayne Law welcomes new visiting professor
DETROIT (Aug. 19, 2010) – Wayne State University Law School is pleased announce that Serban S. Vacarelu will join the faculty as a visiting professor for the fall 2010 semester. His visit was arranged through a longstanding faculty exchange program between Wayne Law and Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
"Professor Vacarelu will add depth to our already stellar array of faculty who teach and publish in the area of international law," said Wayne Law Associate Dean John A. Rothchild. "His profound knowledge of three different legal systems makes him a unique resource for our students.”
Vacarelu, whose most recent professional experience includes serving as a lecturer at Maastricht University, will teach a course in comparative law. His past professional experience includes serving as a judicial law clerk and research attorney with the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Vacarelu earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Oradea, Romania, a master of laws from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and a joint bachelor of laws from Babes-Bolyai University and Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University Law School. He is pursuing a doctoral degree in law at Maastricht University with a dissertation on cultural values and civil litigation.
