Wayne Law to Host ‘Weigh Your Options’ Open House, Oct. 18
DETROIT (Oct. 8, 2007) – Those interested in pursuing a legal education are invited to attend Wayne State University Law School’s “Weigh Your Options” Open House on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007. The information session will occur from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium in the Law School, located at 471 W. Palmer in Detroit.
“We are pleased to host an event solely dedicated to educating and assisting those interested in starting their journey in law,” said Marcia McDonald, Law School Director of Admissions. “Wayne Law offers students a superior legal education taught by an internationally recognized faculty, real-world experience through five live-client clinics, a network of more than 11,000 alumni and so much more.”
McDonald added, “Our goals at this event include spotlighting all Wayne Law offers students, assisting in answering any questions or concerns, and generally helping facilitate in the application process.”
Specifically, law school faculty and admissions, career services, financial aid and student services representatives will be on hand to discuss undergraduate preparation, LSAT preparation, personal statements, letters of recommendation and financial aid options, as well as the various options open to law school graduates.
“One of the key reasons I am attending is because I'm looking to get a better feel for some of the specialty programs/certification programs at Wayne,” said Aimee Roby, a current undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. “The type of law I might practice in the future is a salient issue for me so I’d like to obtain a deeper understanding of individual types of law, prestigious programs offered, and what kinds of co-curricular experiences I can get that relate to my legal education. Also, I would like to learn more about student housing and scholarship opportunities.”
Tours of Wayne State University Law School will be provided and led by current students. Light refreshments will be served.
