Wayne State University

Meet some LL.M. alumni

Upon graduating from the LL.M. program, you will join the ranks of more than 11,000 Wayne Law alumni working around the world.

Wayne Law alumni are prominent lawyers in areas of practice from tax law to international arbitration, from multinational employment law to patent law, from corporate finance to real estate development. They can be found in private practice, in the judiciary, in academia, in governmental positions, in business, in international organizations and in the nonprofit sector in such areas as human rights and environmental law.

Wayne Law’s broad and deep base of alumni is a resource for you. A distinctive feature of our LL.M. program is the success with which we put our current students in touch with our alumni, who provide advice, mentoring and information to enable successive generations of Wayne Law students to launch creative and successful careers. It all begins with an application to our program.

LL.M., Labor and Employment Law (2005)

"Much of my success in the private practice of law is attributable to the great support and help I received from people at various stages of my life, including my LL.M. professors at Wayne Law. I am fortunate to have studied at Wayne Law and to have been able to put the knowledge I learned there to use in my everyday work in my firm's international law practice. Wayne Law has expert faculty (many of whom graduated from Harvard Law School) who are prominent, internationally recognized experts in a wide range of areas. More remarkably, I found these high-powered scholars to be very personable and caring teachers with the doors to their office open to students like me."

"Throughout my career as a federal judge and civil rights lawyer, the rigor and depth of my education at Wayne Law has served me well. But the LL.M. program provided me with much more than a first-rate education. It provided an environment that cultivated and focused my passion for civil rights and justice. My professors and classmates stimulated my interest in helping the United States live up to the ideals expressed in our Constitution. I am proud to have started my legal career with an LL.M. from Wayne Law."

LL.M., Taxation (2013)

"I attended Wayne Law upon the encouragement of my colleagues and the reputation the program held throughout the world. While at Wayne, I studied in the tax program. I had the opportunity to learn from excellent professors who focused their teachings on the practical aspects of each subject matter. This was incredibly advantageous to me, because after graduation I returned to the same firm I worked at prior to entering Wayne but this time with the knowledge and skill set to handle U.S. clients. I am able to use what I learned in the classroom at Wayne in my everyday work at the firm and am very happy I chose to attend Wayne Law."

LL.M., Corporate and Finance Law (2002)

"My experience at Wayne Law was unique and eye-opening. When I graduated in 2002, I was confident that my understanding of American law would open doors that otherwise would be closed, and I was right. Wayne Law provided me with a deep foundation to understand legal issues from both a Chinese and American perspective. Wayne Law is special to me not just for its excellent legal offerings but also for the opportunities to immerse myself in the culture, history and landscape of its location. Michigan is not just a place of many beautiful lakes, fresh air and clean water, it is also a welcoming metropolis of international trade and investment."
