Wayne Law students raise more than $2,400 for Pakistan relief efforts
PHOTO RELEASE (Sept. 3, 2010) – A number of Wayne State University Law School student organizations joined together yesterday to raise funds for Pakistan relief efforts. The groups raised more than $2,400 through a bake sale. Proceeds will go directly to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The student group coalition consisted of the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, the Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic, the Black Law Students Association, the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights student group, the Environmental Law Society, the Hispanic Law Students Association, the International Law Students Association, the Italian American Law Students, the Jewish Law Student Association, The Journal of Law and Society, The Wayne Law Review, the Middle Eastern Law Students Association, the Muslim Law Students Association, the National Lawyers Guild, OUTLAWS, Phi Alpha Delta, the Progressive Organization of Women's Rights, the Public Interest Law Association, the Student Board of Governors, the Student Trial Advocacy Program, the Wayne Intellectual Property Student Association.
Donations were made by Wayne Law students, alumni, faculty and staff members, and friends.
"I want to thank everyone who donated, purchased baked goods, gave time at the table and made this event so much fun," said Reuben Metreger, Wayne Law student and event organizer. "I hope that everyone that participated will accept my sincere appreciation. I am so proud to be a member of this great community and I look forward to our future endeavors."
