Wayne State University

Aim Higher

The Program

Wayne Law offers three program options for the first year of study to meet the various needs of a diverse student body. They include a full-time day program, a combined day and evening program, and a part-time evening program. (Click below first-year program options button for more information.)

First-year students learn fundamental legal theory, as well as how to identify and analyze legal issues, through introductory courses including:

  • Civil Procedure
  • Constitutional Law I
  • Contracts
  • Criminal Law
  • Property
  • Torts
  • Legal Research and Writing

As a first-year Wayne Law student, you will participate in a week long orientation program to introduce you to our legal system, the case method, and the procedures and analytical skills needed in the first weeks of law school. With your classmates, you will use these new skills to analyze a hypothetical problem. Orientation will also provide informal opportunities to help you meet your fellow students and Wayne Law faculty members.
