Distinguished Professor of Law Robert Sedler was a guest on the "Paul W. Smith Show" on Jan. 22, 2009, discussing why U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Roberts administered the presidential oath of office a second time Wednesday because a word was said out of sequence. Sedler said it was appropriate for President Obama to take the oath twice, since the first attempt was not administered correctly.

Professor of Law Peter Henning commented about a case involving a civil lawsuit against the U.S. Justice Department in a story in the Lansing State Journal on Jan. 22, 2009. The person bringing the suit is seeking a contempt order against Free Press reporter David Ashenfelter until the latter reveals unidentified sources in Justice who allegedly leaked information for a story about a terrorism prosecutor. Henning says Ashenfelter's invocation of Fifth Amendment rights will be a tough hurdle for the plaintiff to overcome. For details, click here.
