Walter S. Gibbs Professor of Constitutional Law Steven Winter presented a plenary lecture at the 55th Annual Conference of The Institute on Religion in an Age of Science, which took place this year at the Chautauqua Institute in Chautauqua, NY. The lecture, "Reimagining Democracy for Social Individuals," examined the relationships between democracy, autonomy, sexuality and self-governance.

Assistant Professor of Law Susan Cancelosi was an invited speaker at an ICLE conference on "Basics of Advising Elderly Clients & Those with Disabilities," held in Plymouth, Mich. Her presentation covered government benefits for the elderly and disabled, including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and veterans' benefits. 

Professor of Law Stephen Calkins spoke on "Developments in U.S. Enforcement" at the 4th Academic Society for Competition Law Conference at George Washington University Law School on June 16, 2009.

Assistant Professor of Law Susan Cancelosi was an invited presenter at the AALS mid-year meeting's Workshop on Work Law, speaking on "ERISA Preemption and Health Benefits: Reform Efforts" in Long Beach, California.

Professor of Law Stephen Calkins recently participated in revising the Restatement of Torts at a meeting of the American Law Institute. Professor Calkins is one of several Wayne Law professors who are members of the prestigious Institute.

Associate Professor of Law Linda Beale is a contributing blogger on the Angry Bear blog. This blog highlights topics as varied as worldwide trade, industrial production, US government programs and regulations like Social Security. Professor Beale also maintains her own blog, A Taxing Matter.

Professor of Law Katherine White received the 2009 Woman of Achievement Award at the Vista Maria Celebrating Women event on May 7, 2009. She was honored for being a role model for young women.
