"I would certainly recommend to new students that they join organizations that interest them. Being involved with a student organization is essential to a well-rounded law school career."
Undergraduate degree? When/Where?
I earned my undergraduate degree in classics from Wayne State University in 2007.
Why are you interested in earning a JD?
A degree in law will open the door to many career opportunities, even if you do not go on to practice law.
Why did you choose Wayne Law?
Wayne Law has a wonderful faculty, a great library and a tremendous student body. The students at Wayne Law are one of its best features.
What student organizations/co-curriculars are you involved in?
I have been involved with the Student Board of Governors (SBG) (Wayne Law's student government) since my first year of law school. I served as secretary last academic year and am now serving as president for this academic year. I also served as an assistant editor of The Wayne Law Review last year and am currently an associate editor this year.
How has your involvement in student organizations impacted your law school experience?
Being involved with a student organization has provided me with many positive experiences. I was able to meet students outside of my year and get involved in academic, social and community service events. I would certainly recommend to new students that they join organizations that interest them. Being involved with a student organization is essential to a well-rounded law school career.
Is there a law professor who has already impacted your journey into law?
Professor Mogk has been a great resource for me. He always makes time for his students!
Did you feel as though your Wayne Law education will prepare you well for a career in law?
Wayne Law provides both a theoretical and practical approach to the law. A student who takes advantage of Wayne Law's course offerings, distinguished faculty, internship opportunities and clinical programs will be very well prepared.
What advice would you give to prospective students considering Wayne Law as their law school?
Come sit in on a class, talk to current students to get their perspective, and research the faculty and their specialties. Also, I welcome any prospective student to contact me at MeghanCuravo@gmail.com. I am always available for questions.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Always be kind to your fellow students. You will understand when you start law school.
