Class of 1970 Reunion
The Class of 1970 is pleased to host a special 40th reunion reception for its members at the Treasure of Detroit gala on March 26, 2011. Look for invitations to the Treasure of Detroit and the Class of 1970 reception in mid-February. Law School Fall Reunion Weekend 2011
Save the date for the Law School’s Reunion Weekend on Sept. 23-24, 2011, honoring the Classes of 1961, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991 and 2001. Stay tuned for more information about the events in future editions of Raising the Bar.
Upcoming Law Alumni Association Events for 2011
After several successful happy hour events last year, the LAA is planning to host similar events this year in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit and possibly the Bay City/Saginaw area.
The first of these will be on Feb. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Mr. B’s Pub, 215 South Main Street in Royal Oak. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Regional Alumni Networks
The Law School and LAA are developing regional alumni networks to help alumni outside of Michigan and Metro Detroit stay connected with the Law School. The first areas of focus will be Metro Washington, D.C. and the Grand Rapids area. Are you interested in having fun and meeting new people while giving back to your alma mater? If so, consider joining a committee of the Wayne Law Alumni Association. Committee members have the opportunity to network with fellow alumni and reconnect with old friends while helping the Association to further its goals.

Special Events Committee – Plans social and educational events, including cocktail meet and greets, class reunions, Treasure of Detroit Gala, seminars and more
Student Outreach Committee – Helps connect students and alumni through collaborative social and educational activities
Membership Committee – Plans initiatives to increase and retain Association membership
Fundraising and Capital Committee – Plans and organizes fund raising initiatives
Communications Committee – Helps engage alumni and raise awareness of the LAA through website, e-mail and social media

Law Alumni Connect at Legislative Brunch
The WSU Alumni Association and the Office of Government and Community Affairs invited alumni to meet with members of the Michigan Legislature on Saturday, Jan. 15.
This annual event gives alumni an opportunity to talk with members of the Michigan Legislature and share their thoughts on WSU and its vital importance to the state of Michigan.
Several law alumni, including members of the Law Alumni Association, were present to meet lawmakers.
Wayne Law in the state legislature include Senator Steve Bieda, ’08 (LL.M.), and Representatives Andrew Kandrevas, ‘01, John Walsh, ’87, and Kurt Heise, ‘91.

CareerBoost: Get Connected with LinkedIn
On Jan. 31, 2011, the WSU Alumni Association will host an educational program on how to use LinkedIn and other social media for career development. The seminar, which features employment experts Gary Heitman and Lisa Mangigian, will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the WSU Oakland Center, 33737 West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills.
