Roach Named Keith Collection Director

Wayne State University Law School is pleased to announce the appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor Dana A. Roach as the director of the Damon J. Keith Law Collection of African-American Legal History.
Professor Roach joined the Law School faculty last fall after a year teaching in the Urban Communities Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to that she was an attorney for The Nature Conservancy in San Francisco and an associate with Morrison & Foerster LLP and Miller, Starr & Regalia in California. She received her J.D. in 1999 from the University of Michigan Law School where she was Associate Editor and Contributing Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Her undergraduate degree in Political Science and French is from Bryn Mawr College. She taught the Non-profit Corporations and Urban Development Law Clinic in the Fall 2006 semester and she started the Small Business Enterprises and Nonprofit Corporations Clinic at the Law School earlier this year.
As director of the Keith Collection, Professor Roach will oversee not only the Collection (the archived papers, the exhibits, and programming such as the biennial lecture) but she will also assist with the advancement activities for construction of the Keith Building and Center for Civil Rights. Professor Roach will continue to fulfill her responsibilities as a member of the faculty.
In announcing the appointment, Law School Dean Frank H. Wu said that he “looks forward to working with Professor Roach in this new role.” He added, “Professor Roach has great background in the issues the Keith Collection addresses, and she has already demonstrated her leadership skills in establishing the Small Business Enterprises Clinic. I believe that working together we will advance the goals of the Keith Collection, and I could not imagine anyone better suited to the work of the Keith Collection.”
