Smith's practice is primarily focused in the automotive, electronics and medical device industries. Smith has prosecuted numerous domestic and foreign patent applications relating to medical devices. She has also performed due diligence and provided strategy and counseling to several medical supply companies.

While there, he represented state agencies, including the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Notably, Wright represented the Health Professions Division of the Bureau of Health Care Services in matters involving licensed health care professionals. He also provided legal advice to state boards and commissions that oversee licensing of health care professionals. While in the Attorney General's Office, Wright was awarded the Michigan Attorney General's Staff Excellence in "Opinion Draftsmanship" Award and the Michigan Attorney General's "Rookie of the Year" Award. He also completed a Public Health Law Fellowship sponsored by the National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

She also was awarded the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan Justice for All Award for her work investigating convictions involving the now closed Detroit Crime Lab.
